If you’re planning to set up a business in India (especially as a foreign company), don’t underestimate the complexity. The paperwork, registrations, tax structuring, and state-wise licensing can be overwhelming.
I recently explored this while helping a friend launch a SaaS subsidiary, and learned a LOT.
TLDR: hire a business setup consultant. They make it a LOT easier.
Some insights:
You need to pick a legal structure (Pvt Ltd, LLP, etc.)
MCA registration, PAN/TAN, GST — all mandatory
Fintech needs RBI approval, F&B needs FSSAI
Each state has different rules
We ended up working with GCCX Global — they specialize in helping global companies set up Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India. They handle everything from incorporation to tax to legal compliance, plus they offer long-term operational support (rare to find).

Pro Tips:
Don’t assume your US/UK lawyer/accountant can help you in India
Timelines are ~20–30 days minimum
Ask consultants if they support beyond incorporation (many don’t)
Happy to answer questions if anyone’s planning India entry. It’s an amazing market if you get the setup right
