Manitoba reopens Family Application for Permanent Residency

Their application for PR was denied on the grounds that their daughter, Karalynn, barely of 6 years had a developmental delay.
This decision, comes after a month of intense work, between the Justice Department, which represents Immigration-Canada, in solving law related matters, and Alastair Clarke, the family’s lawyer. The family was devastated after their PR application was denied. Advocates are of the opinion that the immigration policy is not inclusive. Qatar introduces new visa measures for Algeria and Morocco

The Ministry of Interior Qatar and Tourism Authority of Qatar announced that visitors from Algeria and Morocco can avail the benefit of having visa-on-arrival in Qatar when they meet the conditions as mentioned below:
They must possess valid residence permits/visas issued by the USA, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, the Schengen countries, or the GCC countries.
The new system is set to be introduced on September 15th, 2017. It is aimed at allowing all eligible visitors from these two countries to get Travel Authorization (Electronic). For this, they are required to file an online application 48 hours before they intend to travel to Qatar.

Canadian Ministers agree on Increasing Immigration Levels

Shrewd Political leaders holding the charge of immigration and settlement issues in Canada have agreed to increase immigration levels and establish long-term targets to meet the rising labor market needs in the country.
The consensus was the result of the meeting held in Toronto at the Forum of Ministers responsible for Immigration.
There was participation from members of the Federal, Provincial, and Territorial Governments.
At present, Canada has set an annual target of 300,000 new permanent residents for 2017. The Federal Minister of Immigration Ahmed Hussen confirmed that this figure was set as the new baseline for future immigration targets to be carried out by the federal government. The government had envisaged to move towards a multi-year plan in place of the annual model used now. This measure is expected to provide certainty and lend a helping hand to long-term planning.

On Aug 3 Donald Trump announced that he would support the legislation, that put forth to cut down half of the legal immigrants that are allowed into the US.
This legislation would move toward the “merit based system” where it would be favoring the candidates for residency cards who would have a good English speaking skills.
If this legislation would be passed by the congress and signed into law, then the legislation that is titled as RAISE – Reforming American Immigration for strong Employment would greatly benefit technology and highly educated professionals mainly from countries like India.
The current lottery system would get abandoned by the RAISE act, which helps to get into the US and instead the green card can be obtained using a point based system. Different aspects that would be taken into account in this act is the age, education, English language skills and high-paying job offers.

A sikh becomes leading minority politician to head a major party in Canada

Jagmeet Singh, A Sikh lawyer, barely 38-years of age was elected as the leader of New Democratic Party of Canada. He is the first non-white politician, to become the head of a major political party, and has called it an extremely profound honor.

Life turns to torment For H-1B Visa Holders

US Based employers became aware that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services started to challenge a large number of H-1B applications. Cases ground to a halt. The number of H-1B applications plunged down this year after five years.
When President Donald Trump came into office, the H-1B program, providing temporary visas to high-skilled workers, did not undergo noteworthy changes in its annual lottery in April 2017.
But a quiet crackdown was underway.
The challenges, known officially as requests for evidence, have increased by 44 percent compared to 2016 as per USCIS statistics.
The H-1B program became controversial because Indian IT firms use it to hire for jobs associated with computer programming. These firms have started to work to reduce their dependence on the program, because of the present political scene. The sceptical government is impacting the applications.
